The Lynn brothers served in the US Navy in World War II and returned home to start a business that has employed thousands and served tens of thousands. Companies come and go. When we started in 1953 there were nearly as many companies doing floor work as there are today. Pricing the job correctly by being fair to the customer and the company, we have outlasted them all. We still carry on our 1950’s values for good work and the best customer service. We look forward to working with you.

We are committed to saving and reusing antique wood floors

UNIVERSAL FLOORS has stockpiled the largest amount of salvaged antique wood flooring the Washington area. When a historic home or building is slated for demolition, Universal Floors removes the antique floors, stores them until they are needed and keeps them out of the landfill. These old bones are sorted, cleaned and bundled for the next repair or historic restoration project. Our “choose to reuse” approach gives a second life to the valuable wood. Many of the finest homes and historic buildings are graced with our salvaged wood. This wood can be cut into creative and historic patterns or installed in a straight run. Once we match, age, species, grain, length and size it is virtually impossible to differentiate the salvaged wood from the original. View some of our “choose to reuse” projects here.
