Are Hardwood Floors Easy to Maintain?

One of the first questions that we get about hardwood flooring is whether or not it’s really as easy to maintain as people think it is. The truth is that everyone is going to have a different level of comfort when it comes to the care and proper maintenance of hardwood flooring. You don’t have to fixate on the cleaning process, but there are a few things that you will need to pay attention to.

First and foremost, the materials that you use to keep your floor looking like new are going to be important. You don’t want to use any floor wax that has a urethane finish — that’s going to hurt your floor. In addition, ammonia cleaners and oil soaps aren’t going to be suitable for your floor, either — it’s going to dull your finish.

Avoid using a wet mop to clean the floor — a high quality broom does the job better. A vacuum can get dirt out of the cracks in between your hardwood floorboards, leaving you to actually ensure that you pick up everything spilled on the floor.

To protect your hardwood flooring, a floor mat that has ventilation designed for the material in question is a good fit. Place floor mats over any walkways that are going to be involved in the room in question.

These tips should help your floor continue to look as good as it did the day it was installed! We hope that helps!
